Final Reflection: When the Protectors Become the Perpetrators
The case of Monojit Misra forces us to confront something uncomfortable: the proximity of influence to impunity. When leaders are raised without accountability, when politics penetrates the sacred space of education, truth becomes inconvenient, and victims become invisible.
But this survivor is not invisible.
She is fighting back—with words, with law, with courage.
She is a law student who became a victim—but refuses to stay silent.

When Politics Becomes a Playground for Predators
The rot goes deeper. This case is not isolated—it reflects a pattern across many student unions in West Bengal. Originally meant to empower students, these bodies have become tools of control, intimidation, and exploitation.
Many of these leaders, propped up by political parties, operate without fear of consequence. They act not like representatives, but like rulers—untouchable, unstoppable, and above the law. And when institutions bend to power, the law becomes a myth.
“Power corrupts when left unchecked. But when it is worshipped blindly, it becomes evil.”
What Happens Now?
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed. All four accused, including Zib Ahmed, Prometh Mukharachi, and a campus security guard, are now in police custody. The High Court has taken suo motu cognizance, suggesting a CBI-monitored probe may be underway.
But the larger questions remain:
- How was such a man allowed to remain on campus after multiple suspensions?
- Why did no one act when earlier misconduct was reported?
- Why are college unions still being used as recruitment arms of political parties?

Survivor’s Statement: A Cry from Within the System
The victim’s account is chilling. She was not just violated—she was emotionally broken and physically terrorized. Despite being given her inhaler during a panic attack, the men continued. Despite her pleas, her resistance, her crying, her appeals to him, he went on.
“I touched his feet. I begged him. I told him I loved someone else. He didn’t stop,” she told the police.
This isn’t just a sexual crime—it’s a moral collapse, a betrayal of every value this man claimed to uphold. She was not attacked by a stranger in the dark—she was betrayed by someone she had once trusted with leadership and respect.

From Devotee to Dictator: The Rise and Fall of a Student Leader
Born in 1993, Monojit Misra was once a name associated with idealism. His social media portrayed him as religious, respectful, and vocal about girls’ education. He had thousands of followers, often posting about culture, spirituality, and justice.
But power has a strange way of mutating character. Despite being a former TMCP president, he continued to wield influence—controlling college events, disciplining dissent, and allegedly abusing his authority unchecked.

The Incident: A Crime Inside the Classroom
The survivor, a final-year law student, was allegedly assaulted inside the campus itself. At around 4:00 PM, she entered the students’ union room—where, according to her, she was trapped, overpowered, and taken to a different room, where three men, including Monojit Mishra, brutally violated her.
Medical reports later confirmed bite marks, abrasions, and signs of forced penetration. But the horror didn’t end there. The act was filmed, used for blackmail, and accompanied by repeated threats to destroy her life, arrest her parents, and kill her boyfriend.
This was not a random act of violence. This was power used like a weapon.
This was a man who was once trusted, turning into a predator.

Who Is Monojit Misra? A Man Once Worshipped, Now Exposed
Who is Monojit Misra? This question once evoked admiration, perhaps even loyalty. To many, he was a rising figure in student politics, a religious youth leader promoting education and claiming moral dignity. But behind the carefully curated image was a disturbing truth waiting to surface.
On June 25, 2025, that mask was torn off when a 24-year-old law student from South Calcutta Law College accused Monojit Misra, a former TMCP (Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad) leader, of gang rape. Her testimony—raw, painful, and detailed—shocked not just a campus, but a state, revealing the terrifying collision of power, politics, and patriarchy.
